In celebration of Cinco de Mayo next week, here’s a guide to some our favorite tequilas from independent producers at great price points. ¡Salud!

Celaya Añejo, $99
New to the market this month, Celaya’s añejo is the Cadillac of the maker’s tequilas. With deep flavors, darkened with a year of resting in oak, retired bourbon casks, this tequila is layered and complex. This soft and warm spirit is layered with notes of honeyed vanilla and citrus.

Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco, $78
Named the “Best Blanco Tequila” by Epicurious, Casa Dragones Blanco is a small batch, 100% Pure Blue Agave silver tequila, crafted to deliver the true essence of agave through an innovative process that focuses on purity, for a crisp, smooth taste that is perfect to enjoy on the rocks or in signature craft cocktails. Also, a women-owned business!

Tequila Ocho Añejo, $70
Gently aged for only one year in ex-American whiskey barrels, Tequila Ocho Añejo is an unparalleled sipping tequila. A moderate tinge from the barrels is enhanced by the maximum agave essence you taste in each glass. You really get a sense of the blue agave.

Tequila Chamucos Reposado, $50
On entry it is very soft, silky mouth feel and well balanced with flavors of cooked blue agave, tropical fruit, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon spice, fennel and black pepper. Agave, fruit, vanilla and toffee, flavors linger. Finishes soft with the right amount of heat.
